DIEK GROBLER obtained a PhD on ‘Narrative strategies in animated poetry’ at the University of South Africa in 2021, and a Masters Degree in Fine Arts from the University of the Witwatersrand in 1996.
Grobler has exhibited professionally since 1988 and works in a variety of media and disciplines: ceramic sculpture, oil, and gouache paintings, scraperboard drawings, performance art, computer aided 2D animation and stop-motion animation. Diek lives and works in Pretoria, South Africa. |

Films from both projects traveled the festival circuit, and won some awards, amongst others the Jean-Luc Xiberras Award for Best First Film by Naomi van Niekerk for ‘an ordinary blue Monday’ at Annecy 2016. |

| 2008 | “Het Vogeltjes ABC” – 6 min. Producer and Director. The film wins Best Animated Film for Children at the Teheran International animation festival, Iran, KROK International animation festival, Ukraine, and Tindirindis International animation festival, Lithuania. |
